Colored zinc-plated gaskets are passivated on the basis of electrogalvanizing to form a rainbow-colored passivation film (containing trivalent chromium or hexavalent chromium) with a film thickness of about 0.5-1μm. Its anti-corrosion performance is significantly better than ordinary electrogalvanizing, and the surface color is bright, with both functionality and decorativeness.

Material: Q235 carbon steel, Q345 alloy steel, substrate hardness HV150-250.
Features:
High corrosion resistance: No white rust in neutral salt spray test for 72-120 hours, suitable for outdoor or humid environments;
Self-repairing ability: After the passivation film is scratched, the hexavalent chromium component can automatically repair the damaged area;
Color identification: Rainbow colors can be used to distinguish different torque levels or batches (such as the power industry).
Function:
Resistant to corrosion such as salt spray and acid rain for a long time, with a service life 3-5 times that of ordinary electroplating zinc;
Enhanced visual recognition, easy equipment maintenance and management.
Scenario:
Outdoor power equipment (such as tower bolts), marine engineering (ship deck connection), chemical machinery (tank flange).
Installation:
A torque wrench must be used to ensure uniform preload to prevent the passivation film from falling off due to excessive extrusion;
Direct contact with active metals such as aluminum and magnesium is prohibited to prevent galvanic corrosion.
Maintenance:
Avoid using acidic cleaners, it is recommended to wipe with neutral solvents;
Hexavalent chromium passivation gaskets must comply with environmental regulations (such as EU REACH regulations), and chromium-free passivation gaskets are more suitable for the food and pharmaceutical industries.
For scenarios with high environmental requirements, choose trivalent chromium passivation or chromium-free passivation processes;
Use colored zinc gaskets with caution in high temperature environments (>100℃), as the passivation film may decompose and fail.
Type | Electroplated galvanized gasket | Colored galvanized gasket | High-strength blackened gasket |
Core advantages | Low cost, strong versatility | High corrosion resistance, color identification | High strength, high temperature resistance |
Salt spray test | 24-72 hours without white rust | 72-120 hours without white rust | 48 hours without red rust |
Applicable temperature | -20℃~80℃ | -20℃~100℃ | -40℃~200℃ |
Typical scenarios | Ordinary machinery, indoor environment | Outdoor equipment, humid environment | Engine, vibration equipment |
Environmental protection | Cyanide-free process complies with RoHS | Hexavalent chromium must comply with REACH, trivalent chromium is more environmentally friendly | No heavy metal pollution |
Economic needs: Electroplated galvanized gaskets, suitable for ordinary industrial scenarios;
High corrosion environment: Colored galvanized gaskets, give priority to chromium-free passivation process;
High load/high temperature scenario: High-strength blackened gaskets, matching bolt strength grade (such as 42CrMo for 10.9 grade bolts gasket).
